When I arrived this morning, I received a warm welcome by everyone. I must say that I’m grateful to be working for such a magnificent family owned company. Subject: Help me welcome two new members to Maryland Telephone.

Please help me welcome two new members to the Maryland Telephone team: Chip Baldwin and Zane Gee.

Many of you have already met and/or are working with Chip. He was introduced to us by a long time friend and business advisor of Gil’s, Mr. Paul Ricks, President of the Inner Circle, a CEO advisory consulting firm that has help hundreds of businesses in the area grow, including Maryland Telephone. Chip will be acting as a temporary CFO to help us improve on accounting processes and set benchmarks on which we can measure to insure Maryland Telephone will continue to grow and provide a healthy working environment for everyone.

Zane is not only new to Maryland Telephone but to Baltimore, after growing up and attending college in SC, he has move to Baltimore to embark on a new career in communications. Zane will be taking on a brand new role here at Maryland Telephone, that of an inside sales person. He will be responsible for all moves, adds, and changes to all house accounts, my personal accounts, as well as Gil’s and John’s. In addition to the MAC business, Zane will be taking on the responsibility of selling the preventive maintenance agreements to all the Maryland Telephone accounts so Bart can move on to other business processes.

Jenn and I were up, ready to go, and on the road by 9:30. This is after we had gotten up at 7:15 am yesterday, loaded the truck, and drove until 11:30 pm last night. This morning I don’t feel bad at all. The traffic wasn’t to bad until we got into Alexandria/DC. We were at Jenn’s house by 12:15 pm and then it took me 15 minutes more to back the truck up to the front of the house so we could unload everything very easily. Before we did, we at lunch and then got to work. We had the truck unloaded by 4:30 pm and had it to the drop off location by 5:00 pm. Our only problem there was that they had already closed and they didn’t have a drop box for the keys like the website said they did, so we’ll have to bring the tomorrow. Once we got back from dropping the truck off we ate dinner, watch a little TV, unpacked the necessities because I start my new job tomorrow. On a little side note, I will never again move myself with a big truck like that 25′ long Penske truck. I will hire someone while I sit back and relax drinking my margarita. However, if it is across town I will get a small truck and make a dozen trips if need be. I must say, I know I will sleep hard tonight. Thanks Jenn, Mrs. Loretta, and Wink for your help.

Once again I would like to thank Jenn, Sean, Katie, Mom, Dad, Cassie, Mrs. Loretta, and Wink for all the hard work and help! I definitely couldn’t have done this without you all!

Yesterday Jenn I and I went to Spartanburg to pick up the truck. OMG that thing was huge, 25′ to be exact! It might as well have been an 18-wheeler it was big and it sat up high too. Can you imagine little ol’ me driving that big truck? Well we got it back to the apartment safe and sound. Both Jenn and I have to work (our last day on the job) tonight, then Sean and Katie were coming up later that evening to help us pack everything up. Jenn got off at 9:00 pm, Sean and Katie got there shortly there after, and I got off at 10:30 pm. We didn’t stay up too much longer after I got home because we wanted to get an early start in the morning.

Well everyone was up and rolling at about 7:15 am. Sean and I immediately started loading the truck with the mattress’ and box springs followed by our new bedroom suite. My parents got there at 9:00 am to help as well, boy did it get crowded in that apartment with 9 people there. When they got there Sean and I had the truck about 1/3 of the way full with stuff stacked to the ceiling. We continued at this rate until about 11:30 when we took a break to eat lunch. We finally got the last article in the truck at 4:30 pm. I personally didn’t think that it would take that long to get everything in there. Who would’ve thought that you needed to be a logistics major to get everything to fit right? We said our goodbyes and thanked everyone for their hard work and help and then we were on our way.

Jenn and I drove and drove until we just couldn’t drive any more. We stopped in Colonial Heights, VA for the night. Colonial Heights is just south of Richmond, VA by about 10 miles on I-95. My goodness was it nice to lay down after that long and exhausting day of packing and driving.

Thanks again Sean, Katie, Mom, Dad, and Cassie for your hard work and help! We couldn’t have done it without you all!

Well, the drug test went well. When I finished Jenn and I grabbed lunch and went back to her house to gather our things. From there we started heading back to South Carolina for the remainder of the week. We left her car at her parents house and drove mine back so that on the return trip on Saturday she could drive my car while I drove the huge Penske Truck. We stopped when we got to the half way point because we were exhausted from the short weekend that was supposed to be long.

Tomorrow, we’ll get up early and drive the rest of the way home and hopefully we’ll get back early enough for Jenn to get to work on time. Poor thing! Only 5 more days until we move!

Since I had Friday off, Jenn and I drove both cars up to her house. We had the cars filled with a whole bunch of things from the appartment in preparation for the move next weekend. Also, on Monday I have to stop by Maryland Telephone for oustanding paperwork and the information for a drug test (no problem there).
