Family Reunion, Part I
Posted by Zane under: Personal .
After work tonight, Jenn and I drove down to Washington/Dulles (IAD) airport to catch our flight to Charleston, SC for my family reunion. Before we left we grabbed a quick bite to eat and we were on the road by 5:30 pm. We made pretty good time leaving from my office down I-95 to I-495 (Capitol Beltway, DC). Once we got onto I-495 we hit some pretty heavy traffic and it took us 1 hour to go 6 miles, needless to say I was not happy. When we got to the airport we got a pretty good spot and took the shuttle to check in. After we checked in we went through security and to the terminal by 8:00 pm. When we arrived we noticed that our direct flight to Charleston was delayed until 10:26 pm. I was not happy at all. So we sat there and waited and about 10:45 they let us board, or at least we thought anyway. When we walked outside in the enclosed hallway we were stopped at the door and told they were working on the laboratory and to go back inside, which they’re not supposed to do. So we went back inside and waited until 11:20 pm before we were able to re-board and we were finally in the air at 11:40 pm, about 3 hours late. By the time we landed in Charleston and took the shuttle to the hotel it was 1:30 am. My parents and sister were up waiting on us to get there. After we greeted everyone and checked in we went to the room and crashed at about 2:00 am.
