Pepsi Bottling Buys Maryland Bottler

Pepsi Bottling Ventures signed a letter of intent to acquire Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Salisbury, MD., a franchise bottling operation with production and sales facilities in Salisbury, Nelsonia, VA., and Harrington, DE.The companies did not disclose financial terms of the transaction, which is expected to close by the end of August.Shares of PepsiCo Inc., which owns 35 percent of Pepsi Bottling Ventures, rose 0.3 percent to $54.83 during early-morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
