Alabama Names Official State Whiskey

Oddly enough, Alabama has named Conecuh Ridge Fine Alabama Whiskey the “official state spirit.”  This means the whiskey joins other official state symbols, including the yellowhammer state bird, the largemouth bass as official fresh water fish and the pecan as the nut.  I’ve never heard of such a thing.  Are there any other states that have an offical “spirit?”  If I were to guess, I would say Tennessee would be the only other one with Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Brand Tennesse Whiskey, but I doubt it!  Anyone ideas?

Today, the party got jumpstarted when Starbucks said that it will team up with Fortune Brands, which makes Jim Beam whiskey, to develop a Starbucks-branded, coffee-flavored liqueur. It’ll be tested in two U.S. markets later this year.
