Trip To The Salon

Today I went with Jenn to get her hair cut at Augusta Place Salon. The cut itself was $40 and then she tips the lady $8. Granted she does a great job, but an $8 tip? Come on, don’t you think that 20% is a little bit much? And for those of you wondering, no I didn’t get my hair cut there, I get my hair cut at a barber shop.
This whole experience leds me to my question of the day. How much do you pay to for a haircut? And, how much do you tip, if any? I personally pay $9 for a hair cut and tip $1, which is almost 10%. Although it only takes the guy 15 minutes (if that) to cut my hair, I don’t think that $10 in 15 minuest is bad, do you? I’ve been going to the same barber for almost 13 years now and he still continues to do a great job. I also believe in supporting the local independent business rather than some big chain.
